The Indiana Pacers could be getting in on the Reggie Jackson sweepstakes as the NBA trade deadline quickly approaches.

With the Indiana Pacers sitting as one of the worst teams in basketball, it appears they’re beginning to build for the future and that all begins with what could be a huge trade at the deadline this season. Reggie Jackson is one of the biggest names on the market at the moment and the likelihood that he’s moved before February 19th is very high.

That doesn’t mean he will for sure be moved, but there are teams already lining up to take a crack at him. One of those teams could be the Indiana Pacers.

According to Lange Greene from Basketball Insiders, the Indiana Pacers could look to make a deal that lands them Reggie Jackson before the deadline passes.

"Not sure if I like Kevin Martin in the Eastern Conference. Such a ground and pound and I see him as more of a Western Conference guy. Indiana needs a playmaking guard in their lineup … Reggie Jackson fits the bill."

Reggie Jackson is in the final year of his contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the team has made it no secret they’d like to move him before they lose him. The Knicks, Cavaliers and Nuggets have all been teams attached to Jackson in a trade but so far nothing has happened.

Reggie Jackson on the Pacers is an interesting idea moving forward, as the team lacks identity without Paul George and lacks backcourt dominance even with him back. The Pacers would need to make sure they locked down Jackson with a long-term deal but that’s first assuming they even acquire him at all.
