Panthers quarterback Cam Newton recently visited his alma mater, Auburn University, and students freaked out.

More from Carolina Panthers

In 2010, Cam Newton won a Heisman Trophy and a National Championship while attending Auburn University. Now, Super Cam is a star quarterback for the Carolina Panthers and the NFL. On Friday, Cam decided to go back to his roots and visit his alma mater.

Needless to say, the student body kind of went crazy when they heard he was on campus.

Yea, good luck asking any girls out on campus, they’ll all be drooling over Cam Newton.

To be fair, I think we’d all be freaking out if we saw Cam Newton, regardless of where it is. Still, attending Auburn University and knowing what Cam Newton did for their football program and how big he is now, it has to be an awesome feeling.

Cam has gotten a lot of scrutiny about being selfish, disengaged and being a lazy player. These criticisms couldn’t be more wrong. You won’t find a more hard-working and passionate individual as Cam Newton. He’s also one of the kindest people you will ever meet. Just ask these people who he stopped to take pictures with while he was visiting the Auburn campus.

It’s good to see a player as big as Cam Newton doesn’t forget his roots will take time out of his day to meet and take pictures with some of his fans.

He certainly has a lot of work to do in Carolina. The Panthers were able to squeak into the playoffs, despite having a losing record, and even win their first round match against the Arizona Cardinals. Cam will look to build off of last season and attempt to make a third consecutive season making the NFL playoffs.

H/T to College Spun and AUFamily Twitter for the pictures.
