DePaul University student Alex Henry spent some time with a strange inspiration. He had himself filmed approaching women on campus, trying to get their phone numbers, using only lines used by Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch press conferences.
Did I mention it was a strange inspiration?
So prepare yourself for almost five minutes of some of the most bizarre interpersonal communications you will ever witness between people who are sober.
I’m not sure which part gets me the most—the fact that Henry tried this in the first place or the fact that in several instances in the video, it actually worked.
There wasn’t a lot of success with, “I’m just here so I don’t get fined,” because there was understandable confusion on the part of the targets as to why a student would be fined at a library or in the student union.
But holding out the phone while asking “Maybe?” was truly inspired … and well as providing yet more proof why things such as Nigerian email scams and telemarketers still exist.
It’s because there is an alarmingly large segment of the population that really will say “yes” to just about anything, no matter how ridiculous it might seem.
