I’m going to be honest here. I really didn’t expect many highlights from the early games. Between the Magic and Wizards and Warriors and 76ers I figured there would just be two easy blowouts that wouldn’t produce much. Then K.J. McDaniels reminded me he was playing and I am an idiot.

I mean look at that. The Warriors see KJ pick up the ball and figure that he has to pass it so they lock onto their men. That provided McDaniels with the little seam he needed in the middle of the floor and he did the rest.
In a weird way this was as casual as this play could be. KJ tosses a quick one-handed pass that gives him a perfect lob that he just places down with one hand. Not on anyone, not any big monster throwdown, nothing. KJ McDaniels was going to make this dunk look cool and casual and he did just that. These type of plays should really count as assists. It is a pass leading to a basket. It really doesn’t make sense that it isn’t treated as such.
All in all it was a very nice start to the night so thanks to Mr. McDaniels and let us hope this isn’t the highlight from the action.
