What are the 5 NBA Trade deadline deals we would love to see for fantasy basketball?

We are going to list 5 hypothetical NBA trades that I think are a slight possibility, and would give the said player quite a bit more value. We will also talk a little bit about the likely implications and results for the teams and players.

This is a trade that would primarily seem to benefit the Lakers, but with the logjam in the Suns backcourt, this trade would be a huge benefit to both Eric Bledsoe and Isaiah Thomas. Now obviously the Lakers would need to add in a pick or two or possibly some type of young talent. I would think a pick would be more likely as the Lakers don’t really seem to have a ton of trade worthy assets to ship out.

This would also be a nice trade for Steve Nash, as it would allow him to retire where he spent the majority of his career and also where he was drafted in 1996. Nash has an expiring contract, which does give him some mild value even though he remains highly unlikely to see any court action this year.

This is a trade that I had really thought would happen. It works on the ESPN Trade Machine, even though it would put Charlotte into the luxury tax. It would also give the Hornets the boost that they need in order to stay in the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. I would expect that both major pieces of this trade would see a nice uptick in stats and playing time if we see this trade happen. The NBA trade deadline is February 19, so we have some time to see if the Nets and the Hornets can push through and pull the trigger on this deal.

In this proposed deal that never happened but should, the Nets would basically be dumping salary. The Thunder however would be upgrading nicely over Kendrick Perkins at center. I would really like the possibilities of this deal, as Serge Ibaka could handle protecting the rim and rebounding while allowing Lopez to focus on his offensive game.

This would also allow the Nets to continue developing Mason Plumlee, who has really seemed to play well when given the minutes. With the Nets reportedly up for sale, it would be a huge boost to the value of the franchise to dump some of their over paid players and get back under the luxury tax threshold.

This is a purely hypothetical trade scenario. According to some rumors floating around out there, and I will say right upfront that they may not be very legitimate, but it is fun to see what teams would look like if these deals were to go down. Jackson will be a restricted free agent heading into next summer, and today’s NBA teams like to try to get something for players they don’t expect they can resign.

According to ProBasketballTalk, Reggie Jackson was almost moved to the Denver Nuggets recently, but they also say that many teams would be interested when they do move him. In the report linked here, Frank Isola insists that Jackson will be moved before the deadline. I like the Rockets to acquire his services strictly because he would likely step right in to a starting role.

Jackson has shown just how valuable of a starter he can be when Russell Westbrook has been injured. During the month of November when Westbrook was out, Jackson averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 assists and 5.3 rebounds.

Before you Trail Blazers fans go getting all worked up and tell me how this trade won’t work, this is a deal that is purely hypothetical. Sometimes these made up deals actually seem to make a bit too much sense. Okay, I will also admit this deal makes more sense for Bulls fans than it does for Blazers fans. I think fantasy wise though, this deal could help Batum to break out of the funk that he has wandered around in for the better part of the season. Gibson could also slot in as a starting PF while moving LaMarcus Aldridge over to the starting center spot. The Blazers have a nice starting center with Robin Lopez, but he would seem to benefit from moving to a 6th man role.

The Bulls would then sport a sweet starting lineup with Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler, Nicolas Batum, Pau Gasol, and Joakim Noah rounding out the five. This would give Nikola Mirotic some nice run off the bench while moving Dunleavy into a more fitting bench role as well.

That would be a pretty fun group of trades that could, and maybe should, happen. Most likely they will not happen. Let us know in the comments below what trades you would like to see, and maybe we can cover those in a future article!
