The future of Ray Allen will be decided up on after the All-Star Break, but the Cleveland Cavaliers are as confident as ever that he will choose to sign with them.
When Ray Allen’s name came up in the offseason, it was under the assumption that he was going to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers. They had just signed LeBron James away from the Miami Heat, acquired Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves and had a roster geared up for an NBA Finals run.

Yet, here we sit — almost six months into the season — and Ray Allen has not yet decided what he wants to do. That’s a decision that will come after the All-Star Break, and the Cleveland Cavaliers haven’t let time erode their confidence that he will sign.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Cleveland Cavaliers believe that if Ray Allen comes back, he’s going to be signing with them. Cleveland believes this to such an extent that they’ve kept both Mike Miller and LeBron James in contact with him.
Windhorst: The #Cavs do feel that if Ray Allen comes back, they can get him to Cleveland. Lebron and Mike Miller have been talking to him.

Both Miller and LeBron played with Ray Allen in Miami and both have a solid relationship with the veteran guard.
Of course, there is a lot that can happen between now and after the All-Star Break when Ray Allen is expected to make his decision on his NBA future. It’s still possible that his NBA future is nonexistent and that he’s going to stay retired.
Even if Ray Allen doesn’t retire, there are a number of other factors that could keep him from the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks have all shown an interest in signing him as well as the San Antonio Spurs.
The bottom line is, Ray Allen could end up with any contender, including the Golden State Warriors or the Memphis Grizzlies, and no one team has an edge over the others.
