Liverpool vs Tottenham: Preview

Some news about the  teams before the starting 11’s are announced

Liverpool are at home to Tottenham today in the English Premier League, with both teams desperate for a good result. The rival clubs are both vying for a spot in the coveted champions league places, with the competition for  a spot in the top four at a premium.

Both teams are fresh off a game with their biggest rivals, with Tottenham pulling off a great result against Arsenal and Liverpool failing to capitalize on an abundance of chances against Everton.

A win for Liverpool could see them go one point behind Tottenham who are currently in 4th. A loss for the reds however, could see such a swing in momentum that their push for fourth place would be severely more difficult. If Tottenham take a seven point lead in to the business end of the season, Liverpool would struggle to regain momentum.

Team News:

Liverpool: Both Raheem Sterling and Lucas Leiva have been ruled out against for today’s game. Most people will be aware of the importance of Raheem Sterling as he has been on the score sheet more than most reds this season, but a foot injury that forced him off against Everton has resulted in him missing out.

Lucas is an unsung hero for Liverpool, backing up the defense and breaking up play in the midfield. He will be sorely missed today.

Tottenham: Tottenham are set to name an unchanged side from the one that beat their arch rivals Arsenal on Saturday. Harry Kane will play up front, which these days is a worrying headline for any defender to read. He has been in incredible form of late, with an impressive tally of 11 goals in his last 14 appearances.

Match Facts:

If Liverpool manage a win today it will be their fifth in a row against Spurs.

Liverpool won 3-0 in their previous meeting in the league this season.

Tottenham have won 3 of their last away games.

Liverpool have scored 12 goals without conceding in their last three games against Spurs.

Both sets of fans will be gearing up for a battle, with everyone aware of whats at stake. This could easily make a big impact on who will be playing Champions League football next season.
