New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick laughed about Deflategate while on the Late Show With David Letterman on Wednesday.

There was a time when the Deflategate controversy seemed to call into question the legacy of New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

However, now, the controversy that once consumed the sports world, has become a laughing matter.

Belichick appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday and spent a portion of his interview laughing about Deflategate with Letterman.

The controversy is centered on the Patriots using under-inflated footballs in the AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts.

The two even address the latest conspiracy theory floating around that suggests the Colts were responsible for deflating the one football that was significantly under-inflated in an effort to frame the Patriots. When Letterman brings up the theory as possibly being true, Bellichick says, “We’re going to bring you into testify when we get the investigation next month.”

Watch the segment below:

That Belichick is willing to go on TV and laugh about the controversy would suggest that the Patriots coach isn’t too concerned about the results of the current investigation and believes he will be cleared of all potential wrongdoing.

That sure would be a fitting end to one of the stranger sports controversies we’ve ever seen.
