Pittsburgh Steelers running back, Le’Veon Bell will serve a 2 game suspension to start the 2015-16 NFL season
Le’Veon Bell pleaded guilty to DUI charges that go back to last August. Bell will most likely serve a short suspension to start the 2015-16 NFL season.
The new player conduct rules under the collective bargaining agreement say that Bell will have to serve a minimum of a 2 game suspension. Pittsburgh, as reported by John Clayton, is preparing for Bell to miss at least the first 2 games of the season which will mean a number of things for the Steelers as they start making their offseason moves.
Bell ended up missing the final game of Pittsburgh’s season in 2014, after he suffered a knee injury in the AFC north clinching win against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The NFL’s second leading rusher was immensely missed in the Steelers first round playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens. To replace Bell, Pittsburgh signed veteran running back, Ben Tate to carry some of the workload in the backfield. However, the Steelers would go on to only rush the ball for a combined 68 yards against the Ravens losing the game 30-17, ending their season.
Bell was also huge in the passing game for the Steelers leading the NFL in receiving yards by a running back with 854. A stat line that was clearly missed against the Ravens and will be missed in the first couple games the Steelers play this season.

It is without a doubt that Le’Veon Bell’s presence will need to be filled if the Steelers plan on being competitive as he serves this suspension. Which is why the Steelers will most likely look to add another back in the offseason either by signing a free agent or selecting a running back in the NFL draft.
Some notable names on the free agency market are Frank Gore, Knowshon Moreno, and Darren McFadden. As the Steelers weigh their options at the running back position, it wouldn’t be surprising if one of these veterans sign with Pittsburgh to replace Bell at the start of the season, and fill in behind him as he returns.
