Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard left Tuesday’s match against Tottenham with a hamstring problem and could be out two to three weeks.
A “slight hamstring problem” is turning out to be a bigger deal for veteran Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard.
According to The Guardian, the captain could miss up to three weeks with the injury that forced him out of Tuesday’s 3-2 English Premier League win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Gerrard, who has 11 goals in 33 games across all competitions for Liverpool this season, was replaced in the 68th minute and expects to be out two to three weeks.
That will force him out of the club’s tie at Crystal Palace in the fifth round of the FA Cup, the first leg of their Europa League round of 32 tie with Turkish side Besiktas and an EPL match at Southampton.
If he misses a third week, Gerrard would also be out for the second leg against Besiktas in Istanbul and a Premier League home match with Manchester City on March 1.
It’s the second midfield injury in less than a week for Liverpool, which lost Lucas Leiva in Saturday’s Merseyside derby draw against Everton to a thigh injury that is expected to sideline the Brazilian for four to six weeks.
Leiva was originally hurt Jan. 31 in a 2-0 win over West Ham United and did not play against Bolton in their 2-1 win in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
He managed just 16 minutes against Everton before having to come out.
Gerrard signed a deal with the LA Galaxy of MLS last month and is expected to join the U.S. club during the July transfer window.
He is the longest-serving captain in Liverpool history and has 183 goals in 702 matches across all competitions since joining the club in 1998.
Gerrard also scored 21 goals in 114 caps for England from 2000-14.
He was part of Liverpool’s Champions League title in 2005, the 2001 UEFA Cup victory, a pair of FA Cup wins in 2001 and 2006 and three runner-up finishes in the Premier League (2002, 2009, 2014).
Liverpool is currently seventh on the Premier League table with 42 points, with a 12-7-6 record, three points behind Arsenal for the automatic Europa League qualifying spot and four behind Southampton for the last of four Champions League bids.
Gerrard has been associated with the Liverpool club for almost 30 years, joining their youth program in 1987.
