Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant has a problem on his hand. A 6’9, 272-pound problem on his hand.
NBA legend Karl Malone made clear in an interview with the Huffington Post that he and Kobe Bryant have a problem with one another and that he wouldn’t mind duking it out if Bryant were game.
"We had a little issue,” Malone told host Marc Lamont Hill. “I don’t hold grudges … I love Westerns. I’m old-school Western. Back in the day, when you had a beef, you didn’t go get guns and knives … we just go back in the back with no cameras and knuckle up. Get it over with.”Hill pressed Malone if he offered Bryant that route to resolution.“It’s a standing offer,” Malone said. “Look, I don’t want no trouble. I don’t have a problem. People say whatever they want to say and that’s great. I’m 6-9, 272 [pounds] to be exact. I’m not hard to find. I don’t want no trouble. But if something got to go down, I’m not playing fair.”"
Whoa. Malone is clearly not messing around.
The beef between the two stems from after the 2003-04 NBA season when Bryant accused Malone of making inappropriate comments to his wife.
Malone has always denied Bryant’s accusations and the two apparently never squashed their issues.
While Malone is 51 and no longer in his athletic prime, we’d strongly suggest to Bryant that he and try and end this beef with words. Malone, as he alluded to in the interview, is huge and ready to fight dirty.
Another reason Bryant should avoid a fight with Malone: Bryant currently has one arm in a sling as a result of the torn rotator cuff injury he suffered in January that will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season. That just wouldn’t be fair.
Regardless, these two appear to have legitimate issues with one another and it sure will be interesting to see how they ultimately choose to resolve them.
