The Golden State Warriors will have interest in signing New York Knicks big man Amar’e Stoudemire if he agrees to a buyout.

It has been a very exciting 2014-15 NBA season thus far, and the Golden State Warriors have been a major part of that excitement. They have been one of the best teams so far, and are currently in first place in the Western Conference with a 41-9 record. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson have taken their games to new levels, and they have an excellent supporting cast around them.

Golden State isn’t satisfied yet with the roster they have put together, apparently, and will reportedly be interested in signing New York Knicks big man Amar’e Stoudemire if the two sides agree to a buyout.

Through the first 35 games that he has played so far this season with the Knicks, Stoudemire has averaged 12.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game. He isn’t as athletic as he once was back in his prime with the Phoenix Suns and early in his Knicks career, but he is still more than capable of making a difference on the court for his team.

Stoudemire is expected to end up getting bought out by the Knicks, and there are already two very interested teams that have been talked about. At this point in time it is expected that the Suns would actually be the front-runner to sign him, with the Dallas Mavericks being another team to keep an eye on. Both teams could use a front-court addition, but the Suns have an advantage of having a previous good relationship with Stoudemire.

At 32 years of age, Stoudemire only has a couple of years of good basketball left in him before he is forced to call it a career or begins to lose his ability.

It would be very smart for Golden State to bring him on board if they can do so at a reasonable price. He would be a nice scoring punch off of their bench, and would make them an even deeper and more dangerous team.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors surrounding Stoudemire’s name if he does end up getting bought out by the Knicks. He has a skill-set that is very valuable to a contending team, and the last thing teams want to see is the Warriors get even better. Stoudemire would likely be very interested in signing with one of the best teams in the league after getting out of one of the worst situations in the NBA.

Don’t be surprised to see the Warriors end up being one of the final teams that Stoudemire is choosing between after listening to all the offers on the table.
