Former NBA great and current broadcaster Bill Walton repeatedly called a forward for the Oregon Ducks basketball team Snoop Dogg.

Apparently there’s a player on the Oregon Ducks men’s basketball team who looks like Snoop Dogg. Or Bill Walton is just dazed and confused at this point. Either way, the former NBA player and long-time broadcaster called this guy Snoop Dogg throughout the Ducks’ game against the USC Trojans, as seen below.

So did someone correct Bill Walton, or did they just let him roll with it throughout the game? Did they realize that it’s kind of racist when old white guys call a young black kid Snoop Dogg just because?

Now, we’re not saying Bill Walton’s a racist or anything, but it does seem weird that he’d resort to calling a kid Snoop when the kid is clearly…not Snoop.

Plus, he’s calling an Oregon kid Snoop when the D-O-double gizzle is clearly a USC guy. At least pick a Trojan basketball player to whom you can apply that nickname, Bill.

Maybe we’re just overreacting, but it seems weird that Bill Walton would just sit back, chuckle and start calling a kid Snoop Dogg. Then again, when you’re Bill Walton, you can pretty much do what you want at this point and still have a gig waiting for you somewhere.
