Riley Cooper is unfortunately the face of Black History Month on Eagles’ calendar (Photo)
Philadelphia Eagles receiver Riley Cooper may not have been the best choice for Black History Month.
The Philadelphia Eagles have, most unfortunately, sent out a team 2015 calendar which uses a picture of receiver Riley Cooper for the month of February.
Which doesn’t seem like a problem, until you remember that February is Black History Month. And that Cooper once shouted “I will fight every n—-r here” at a country music concert.
Yeah. Bad idea.
Here’s the photo, via Twitter:
Deadspin had the story first, after the photo of the calendar was sent to them.
And though it begs the question why it took until the 12th of the month for someone to notice, this is a very unfortunate error.
“If anything, it was an honest mistake,” Eagles PR rep Brett Strohsacker told TMZ Sports, when asked about the incident. “I will look into this issue and see what the thought process was.”
I would like to talk to this publisher as well. Maybe they can put together an NFL calendar featuring Michael Vick in August (national dog day is Aug. 26); Ray Rice in October (domestic violence awareness month); and Roger Goodell for December (national cover things up month). OK, OK, so that last one is made up.
When it comes to things like this, you have to double-check everything.
Allowing Riley Cooper to be on the calendar during the month of February is just a mistake that cannot happen. Someone is probably going to lose their job.
