Tony Romo showed no hesitation at showing his displeasure with the refereeing during the Dallas Mavericks home game against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, yelling at the ref’s after some bad calls

The Dallas Mavericks hosted the Utah Jazz on Wednesday evening in a low-scoring 87-82 win. In attendance and supporting his fellow Dallas professional sports team was none other than the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, Tony Romo.

According to a Tim MacMahon tweet, Romo was doing a little more than just watching the game. He reported that Romo was yelling at refs, even going as far as calling them each out by name.

This might be a good thing for Romo. In the past, he has not really been known for getting overly critical over referees calls. Perhaps the season defining call in the second round playoff game against the Green Bay Packers lit a fire in Romo. The Dez Bryant ruled drop at the end of the fourth quarter did have an abundance of controversy surrounding it, yet Romo kind of shrugged it off.

“The calls, they don’t go your way sometimes,” Romo said in an interview with fox news regarding the Dez Bryant dropped pass. “It’s disappointing whenever it does not go the way that you want. We had a chance to win.”

Romo’s relaxed and boring persona that he puts on when speaking about referees to the media may be changing. All it took was a few bad calls at a Mavericks game to get the blood pumping a little bit.

This may also be in response to Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki showing his admiration for Romo playing hurt against the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this year. Romo was playing with two fractures in his lower back, causing him an immense amount of pain. Yet, he still suited up and led his Cowboys team to the second round of the playoffs.

“He’s a warrior,” exclaimed Dirk when speaking about Romo reported by ESPN Dallas. “I’m proud of him, the way he sets the tone… I think it sets a tone throughout the whole team.”

Apparently Dirk and Tony have developed somewhat of a friendship in their time together living in the same city. They exchange text messages from time to time and don’t hesitate to give each other some back up. In Romo’s case, that means getting on the refs to make the right calls during a regular season Western Conference game.

Whether it is in response to the season ending Dez Bryant dropped pass call or his friendship with Dirk Nowitzki, Romo provided ESPN’s Tim MacMahon with some Wednesday night entertainment while he was covering the low scoring Dallas Mavericks and Utah Jazz game.
