The Dallas Cowboys’ linebacker’s house fire has been ruled an arson

Dallas Cowboys linebacker and former Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Rolando McClain lost his house in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama in December to a house fire. The State of Alabama Fire Marshal’s office has released an official statement on the matter.

Fire Marshal Ed Paulk after a careful and continuing investigation, was able to conclude that the fire was indeed intentional.

The report states:

"Alabama State Fire Marshal Ed Paulk reports that the investigation into the cause of the fire that gutted a house owned by professional football player Rolando McClain has “determined the fire to have been intentionally set.”Although the fire was the result of arson, no arrests have been made at this time and the investigation continues."

Along with investigating the arson, they are now working with the Sheriff’s office plus other fire agencies to be able to conclude who committed the arson.

Paulk was interviewed about the situation by AL.com, and was quick to note that while they have an idea of what happened, they aren’t saying too much about the incident at this time.

"“We have concluded the scene examination and we have determined it was the result of an incendiary act,” Paulk said in an interview with AL.com.Paulk said his office won’t say how they believe the fire was set because only they and perpetrator or perpetrators know how it was set. “So we’re going to be real tight lipped,” he said."

For Rolando McClain, he had a good first year back in the league with the Cowboys after being briefly retired. The former first-round pick of the Raiders had struggled with personal issues and eventually was released by the team.

On the season, McClain had 81 tackles to go with one sack and two interceptions as he manned the middle of the defense for the Cowboys.

He showed last year that he can play at high-level in the NFL and the Cowboys would go onto a 12-4 record before being eliminated by the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Divisional Round.

McClain is only 25 and could be a bright spot going forward for the Cowboys as they continue to chase their dream of another Lombardi Trophy.

As for what happened to his house, that’s now a criminal investigation and hopefully will have a quick resolution.
