Jameis Winston has been the subject of much controversy during the last two years and now the Florida State Seminoles draft hopeful is the subject of more criticism as a result of his weight.

The use of Photoshop and Instagram filters to disguise our imperfections and flaws has made many regular looking people into fashion models, but apparently Florida State’s Jameis Winston didn’t use any filter on an image that circulated the Internet on Saturday.

More from NFL Draft

Winston was photographed working out with private quarterback tutor, George Whitfeld in mid-January and looking like he had added a few pounds to his midsection with the unflattering picture. He is listed a 6-4, 230 pounds and could be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, but the picture didn’t capture his best side and could lead to some teams questioning his conditioning.

The photo is not that flattering, but he also has a harness tied around his waist that could have made things seem much more rotund than he would otherwise.

“The photo of Jameis was taken in early-mid January,” Whitfield told The Big Lead. “If people are saying he looks out of shape – well, did they notice he had the leash tight around his waist? That may have had something to do with it.”

Whitfeld posted a picture of Winston working out to his Instagram page and doesn’t look much different from the player we saw at Florida State the last two seasons when he won a Heisman and national title as a redshirt freshman two years ago and led the Seminoles to the College Football Playoff as a sophomore.

“Jameis is in shape and doing great,” Whitfield said. “Anyone saying he’s out of shape, they can check him out at the Combine this week.”

Does this look like a guy who is fat?

Regardless of these pictures, Winston was still going to be the most talked about player at the upcoming NFL Combine where he will be asked about his litany of off-the-field character concerns.

Even if he doesn’t work out, his interviews will be the most important aspect of the week for Winston who will have to limit the concerns teams like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have about the 2013 Heisman winner who could add No. 1 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft to his list of achievements.
