The New York Knicks are looking at an offseason of massive change and some of that change could include signing LaMarcus Aldridge.

The NBA trade deadline is right around the corner but for some teams the focus is on the offseason and who they can bring in without having to give up assets they either don’t want to or don’t have.

Goran Dragic seems to be at the top of this list but there is still a chance that the Suns trade him before the deadline passes next week. When it comes to Aldridge, there is zero chance that the Blazers are going to be trading Aldridge before or after the deadline.

Portland is a frontrunner to re-sign Aldridge this offseason when he becomes an unrestricted free agent. But the Blazers won’t be the only team making a play on Aldridge as the New York Knicks are looking like a team who will be in on the All-Star forward.

Aldridge is currently in New York for the All-Star Game this Sunday, a game he’s going to be starting for the Western Conference. While there, he’s making comments that seem to suggest he’s interested in making a leap to the East coast.

Now, this isn’t Aldridge saying that he wants to sign with the Knicks over the Blazers or any other team that might throw an offer at him. But it does bode well for New York when it comes to their chances of locking down Aldridge with a long term deal.

He’s a max player and the Knicks already have Carmelo Anthony under a max deal, so the financials of signing Aldridge are a bit of a headache. But having Carmelo Anthony and LaMarcus Aldridge in the same frontcourt is an insane thought and it’s something that the Knicks would most definitely be something Phil Jackson would go into the luxury tax to make happen.
