The NBA All-Star Game is set to take place in New York this Sunday, and Carmelo Anthony is expected to play.

Carmelo Anthony isn’t sure if he’s going to play anymore regular season ball this year for the Knicks, but he knows he’s going play at least one more game.

After hinting that he will more than likely shut things down for the remainder of the season, Carmelo Anthony is further reiterating that he will play in the All-Star Game on Sunday. According to ESPN New York insider Ian Begley, Carmelo knows he’s going to play he just doesn’t know how much he’s going to end up being in the game.

“Carmelo reiterates that he is going to play tomorrow,” according Beagly. “Regarding his minutes, Melo says he’s going to play it by ear.”

This is good news for those attending the big game on Sunday but it may rub some New Yorkers the wrong way. Knicks fans want Melo to be healthy and at his best over the long term but they also want him putting in his all for the team.

Playing in the All-Star Game and then shutting himself down or the season is something that Knicks fans might not want to see happen, but that appears to be the plan.

Of course, Melo could end up coming back and playing whenever he feels like it but it sounds increasingly like he’s going to be done for the year after the All-Star Break. While it may anger Knicks fans, you can’t really blame Melo for not wanting to risk his body for what has amounted to a lost season.
