After initially hinting that Kevin Durant could be an All-Star starter tomorrow, Western Conference head coach Steve Kerr is starting someone else.

The NBA All-Star Game is Sunday in New York and it was looking like Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant was going to be getting a start. That has all changed in a rather short period of time, as the Western All-Stars are going to go in a different direction with their starting lineup.

While Steve Kerr seemed to be leaning towards starting Durant over the injured Anthony Davis, it now appears that Portland Trail Blazers star LaMarcus Aldridge is going to get that start instead.

Durant getting an All-Star start would have been nice, especially considering he’s deserving of it despite not being voted in by the fans. That’s not to say Anthony Davis shouldn’t have been the starter had he not been injured but with him out of the picture, Durant was more than an adequate replacement.

That being said, Aldridge is having one heck of a season in Portland and has further established himself as one of the best young forwards in the game. There was once a discussion this season over whether Kevin Love or LaMarcus Aldridge was the best power forward in the game but that has been settled.

Of course, Pau Gasol has proven he’s the best power forward in the NBA but Aldridge is by far one of the most promising.
