NBA Trade Rumors: Charlotte Hornets can’t find market for Lance Stephenson

The Charlotte Hornets are trying to figure out what to do with Lance Stephenson and things are unlikely to end in a trade before the deadline. 


Charlotte Hornets fans are hoping that they have only a week left with Lance Stephenson on their roster, but that’s unlikely to happen. It’s not because Stephenson will last less than a week with the Hornets as the trade deadline approaches, it’s because the team is unlikely to find a trade partner to dump him on.

Stephenson has been nothing but disappointing for the Hornets this season, which is both a surprise but not a shock. He wasn’t this bad with the Indiana Pacers last season, but like Homer Simpson, he’s become a caricature of himself and his game is suffering.

According to Adrian Wonarowski from Yahoo! Sports, who went on Sirius XM to dish about the NBA trade deadline, it doesn’t appear that Lance Stephenson is going to be traded because nobody wants him.

This is a massive issue for the Hornets in that they have to deal with Stephenson for the remainder of the season but it’s not that big of a financial issue for the franchise. They can cut and run with Stephenson in the offseason but they’d be getting no return on their initial investment in him — like, none at all.

Not on the court, not in compensation and certainly not financially.
