Report: Usain Bolt will retire in 2017
By Josh Hill
Usain Bolt may be one of the most famous Olympians ever, but his career will come to an end soon after the 2016 Rio Games.
Usain Bolt is an Olympic Champion and one of the most well known athletes in the world — not to mention the fast man on the planet. He has world records that won’t fall for some time but that’s not why everyone is talking about Usain Bolt today.

Instead of championing his accomplishments on the track, Bolt has once again been mentioned in retirement talks as the sprinter has apparently set a date in which he will walk away from the sport he has dominated over the years.
According to BBC Sports, the career of Usain Bolt will come to an end after he competes in the 2017 World Championships in London. Even with retirement talk in the air though, Bolt is apparently not losing focus winning all that he can in the meantime.
"Bolt’s main focus for 2015 will be the World Championships in Beijing from 22-30 August where he will be looking to add to his haul of eight world golds and the 28-year-old also has one eye on breaking his own 100m world record of 9.58 seconds, set in Berlin in 2009."
Of course, anything can happen and retirement is never permanent. Just look at Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps for an example of that, but Bolt seems set on retiring after the 2016 Rio Olympics. He’s also not ‘going out on top’ in the sense that he’s going to use the Rio Games as his final lap in his career.
Instead, Bolt is going to make the 2017 World Championships his finally run and that shows just how special the sport is to him and how much he appreciates the accolades outside of the Olympic gold medals he has piled up over the years.
