J.J. Redick had four points taken away in the three-point contest on Saturday due to his foot being on the three-point line multiple times.  Redick joked that he’s “proud” of his errors.

Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard J.J. Redick came up short in Saturday’s three-point contest, getting eliminated in the first-round after posting a score of just 17 points.

On the bright side, Redick did set a record, one he is apparently very proud of. Redick had four points taken off his first-round score due to his foot being on the three-point line during three of his makes (two regular shots and one money ball shot), giving him the most two-pointers made in three-point contest history.

This is very well played by Redick.

While humorous, Redick’s line-stepping issues were irrelevant to the contest.

The point threshold to advance to the final round proved to be 23. Redick would have only had a score of 21 if he hadn’t stepped on the line during his four waved-off makes.

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry ultimately won the contest, after scoring 23 in the first round and posting a remarkable score of 27 in the final round to topple his teammate Klay Thompson and Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving.

While Curry might be the champ for the next year, Redick’s new record record will surely stand for quite some time.

Curry is shooting 39.9 percent from three this season and is a career 43.3 percent shooter from outside for his career. Redick is shooting 43.6 percent on three pointers this season and 39.6 percent from beyond the arc for his career.
