Roberto Luongo with the ridiculous save (Video)
The Panthers’ goaltender robbed Blues forward David Backes of an easy goal
If it wasn’t for a heart stopping play of goaltender Roberto Luongo, the Panthers would probably have a bigger deficit to deal with in their game against St. Louis Blues on Sunday night. Luongo faced 14 shots in the first period and was constantly forced to make save after save after the Blues went on an all-out offensive attack.

With 5:45 remaining in the first period and the Blues pressuring Luongo, Blues forward David Backes had a shot to hammer a rebound home to give St. Louis the early lead.
However, Roberto Luongo made an absolutely ridiculous save to keep Backes off the board and at the time, prevented St. Louis from taking the early lead.
With a wide open net, Luongo had to stretch all the way across the glove side of his body to snag the puck.
Making incredible saves is nothing new to Luongo who has been one of the leagues best goaltenders for a while.
His return to Florida has them back in the playoff hunt and with a chance to make the playoffs after several struggling seasons with just one postseason berth during that stretch.
Tonight he had another classic moment to add to the highlight reel.
