NFL Mock Drafts are a mixture between informed analysis, crystal ball gazing and dart throwing and this early in the process is as much about focusing on what a team needs from a position standpoint as it is actually nailing the player.
Of course, we know that things will change multiple times in the coming months. A franchise that needs a cornerback will grab one in free agency, and a player who has been highly touted will interview horribly and see his stock tumble.
So it’s always important to look beyond a pick in mock drafts right now and see what the analysts are saying about what the team needs are — even if they will be different soon enough.
A few notes about this mock. Yes, it’s too early. Yes, we know the Combine hasn’t happened yet. Or Free Agency. Or Pro Days. There are no trades in it. And yes, we think PLAYER X is not as good as you do, and think PLAYER Y is better than you do.
It’s early, it’s fun, it’s a mock draft. Enjoy it now, it’ll be blown up in a week or two.
