The saga just keeps continuing with Andrew Bynum.
A couple seasons ago, Bynum was one of the best big men in all of the NBA. Before Phil Jackson retired, Bynum was coachable and he knew his role. However, when Mike Brown came to town to be the head coach, not only did the Los Angeles Lakers take a turn for the worse, but Bynum’s career went south fast.
Before Jackson retired, before the Lakers were eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks, Bynum was ejected after a flagrant foul on J.J. Barea. Bynum would go on to walk off the court with his shirt off. That was the first main problem with Bynum that made his career go on a downward spiral.
Over the 2012 offseason, Bynum was involved in a four-team deal that would send him to the Philadelphia 76ers. However, Bynum had a ton of problems with his knees in the beginning of the season. Bynum would then injure his knees in a bowling accident. The 76ers would go on to release him at the end of the year. To make it simple, the 76ers didn’t get one game out of Bynum.
Bynum would then sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, but after multiple problems with the team and the coaching staff, the Cavs would go on to trade him to the Chicago Bulls for Luol Deng. On that same day, the Bulls waived him, as they had no intentions of keeping him.
In 2014, Bynum then signed with the Indiana Pacers. After just two games, the Pacers declared him out indefinitely with soreness and swelling in his right knee. The Pacers would go on to announce that he would miss the remainder of the season and he would no longer be involved in team activities.
Over the course of his downfall over the past four years, Bynum has been seen parking in handicapped spots. Bynum was even cited for driving past the divider to pass a car. Whether it’s his attitude or his demeanor, something is off with Bynum and the latest installment just further proves his inability to fully grasp everything.
According to Yahoo Sports, Bynum once drove around Philadelphia with a gas nozzle and a hose hanging from his custom black Ferrari. According to Pablo Torre, the Bynum story of him driving through Philadelphia is, in fact, true. Torre wrote a feature story about the situation.
"One day, memorably, the rehabbing big man parked next to Aaron Barzilai, DiLeo’s newly hired director of basketball analytics, in the parking lot of the team facility at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. As Bynum shuffled inside, Barzilai noticed something on their would-be star’s custom black Ferrari and called after him. Bynum, it turned out, had driven away from a gas station without removing the pump’s nozzle and eight- foot rubber hose, which he’d dragged, pythonlike, through the street."
Whatever it was, Bynum couldn’t feel the pull of the gas tank and to be completely honest, it really comes as no surprise at all that Bynum had this happen to him. After months of not hearing any news about him, Bynum is back in the news. This time, however, being with even more wacky news than ever.
