Chris Johnson is alleging that the New York Jets were less than truthful with him

Two days ago, the New York Jets officially released running back Chris Johnson. In just one season with the Jets, Johnson, nicknamed “CJ2k,” never really found his rhythm. It was said before the season that Johnson needed a fresh start after a few bad seasons with the Tennessee Titans.

Well, Johnson got that fresh start when he signed with the Jets, but their offense was putrid to say the least and he was stuck in a backfield committee along with Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell. Johnson had just 155 rushing attempts for 663 yards and only one touchdown in 2014.

On Monday, Johnson opened up about the Jets and how he was lied to about his role. According to the New York Post, Johnson said that general manager John Idzik, who is currently without a job, before the 2014 NFL season told Johnson that he would be given a ton of playing time.

In an interview on the Rich Eisen Show on Monday, Johnson talked about the Jets and what he thought his role was going to be.

“I think I went into a situation where I was told one thing, and it was another,” Said Johnson.

Despite his recent downfall in his career, Johnson is still better than Ivory or Powell. However, Johnson also said that around the third game, he started to get the vibe that the role Idzik told him he would have was a complete sham.

“Basically, it was a situation where I was going there to be the guy or whatever,” Johnson said. “It was still said, yeah, both guys [Johnson and Ivory] were going to get playing time. I think it was like after the [third] game or something like that, it just switched over and I started getting less and less playing time, and not knowing where it came from.”

Johnson would go on saying that the Jets last year, as a whole, was a bad situation for him as well as the entire team. The three-time Pro Bowler would also say that the situation was out of Rex Ryan’s hands, who as we all know is now the head coach of the rival Buffalo Bills.

To be completely honest, it’s no surprise to hear about this, considering how horrific the Jets were in 2014 season. From management down, this team was downright horribly ran and Johnson is just one example that was treated unfairly.
