Philadelphia Eagles safety Nate Allen was arrested in Florida. However, the details have yet to be released.

In the 2014 NFL season, Nate Allen’s play showed why the Philadelphia Eagles needed to address their secondary over the offseason. Mock drafts over the past few weeks have projected the Eagles selecting defensive backs like Landon Collins, Trae Waynes, and Jalen Collins. However, the probability of the Eagles’ drafting a defensive back is now even higher as Nate Allen was recently arrested.

According to JRN.com, the Eagles safety was arrested in Florida. However, the details of his arrest have yet to be released. That being said, considering the details have yet to be released, Allen must’ve done something extremely bad and if that’s the case, the Eagles will more than likely not bring back Allen. Again, with how bad he was in 2014, it wouldn’t have came as a surprise even before the arrest if the Eagles released him. However, now that the 27-year-old has been arrested, the chances of the Eagles not bringing him back are significantly higher.

After his best statistical season in his career in 2013, where he had 82 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and an interception, Allen was awarded for his play by being named on the PFF All-NFC East team. Because of his career season, Allen was brought back on a one-year deal in 2014. Fortunately for the Eagles, instead of giving him more money on a career deal, Allen was brought back on a one-year deal worth a base salary of $1,250,000. After the 2014 season, it’s safe to look back and say the Eagles were lucky to only give Allen a one-year deal.

In 2014, the South Florida product looked lost in the defensive backfield. Allen totaled just 62 tackles, a forced fumble, and even though he had four interceptions, it shouldn’t garner much attention considering every team threw the ball more on the Eagles in 2014 because of how poor their secondary was.

With his arrest and how bad he was in 2014, it would come as a complete surprise if any NFL team signs Allen to be a starting player. At best, he is a special teams player, which is where he made his money with the Eagles before being given the starting job. Allen’s arrest only further proves that he does not have a place in this league as a starting safety.
