Frank Gore said that he “wants to know if San Francisco 49ers’ management loves me” this coming offseason, and is a high profile free agent.

The San Francisco 49ers have already made some major moves since the end of their season, and have moved on from Jim Harbaugh and the old coaching staff. Jim Tomsula is the new head coach, and it is going to be interesting to see what type of system he installs in 2015.

That being said, there are more tough decisions on the horizon for the 49ers. Frank Gore is also a free agent, and they will have to decide whether or not to give him a new deal or let him walk away. He has been one of the long-time faces of the 49ers’ franchise, and it would be tough to see him end up leaving this offseason.

On an Instagram post that Gore put up on Sunday, he made it clear that he wants to know where he stands for the 49ers. He said that he “wants to know if the San Francisco 49ers’ managements loves me.”

Carlos Hyde was drafted in the 2014 NFL Draft, and he was a very impressive rookie last year when given carries. He still has some work to do before he’s ready to start, but he’s definitely capable of being the starting running back in 2015.

Gore also came through with another solid season in 2014, running for 1,106 yards and four touchdowns on 255 carries.

Those numbers show that he is still more than capable of being an NFL running back, and it makes the 49ers’ decision even more difficult. It would be much cheaper to move on from him and give Hyde the starting job, but it would kill the fans to see Gore walk away. Also, if they don’t bring Gore back, there is the potential that he will come back and haunt them next year.

At 31 years old, Gore still has a few good years of football left in him. There are plenty of teams in need of help on the ground, and it wouldn’t be long before someone gave him a new deal if he does hit the open market.

It will be a very interesting offseason to keep an eye on Gore and to see where he ends up signing. San Francisco has to choose whether or not they stay loyal to one of their best long-time players, or whether they go the cheaper route and begin a brand new era of football.
