Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2015 NBA All-Star game.

The 2015 NBA All-Star game has come and gone, and there were plenty of great performances and highlights. It was a very fun atmosphere in New York City, but the Western Conference was able to come up with a 163-158 win over the Eastern Conference.

More from NBA

Russell Westbrook led the way for the West with 41 points on 16-28 shooting, and did so coming off of the bench. He also recorded five rebounds and three steals on the night. It was an impressive all-around performance for him, and he set the record for most points in a half in All-Star Game history with 27 in the first half.

Needless to say, it was a performance that was well worth of the MVP award, and he received the honor after the game.

Westbrook wasn’t the only player that was in the running for the award, with James Harden scoring 29 points to go along with eight rebounds and eight assists. LeBron James had a big game as well with 30 points, seven assists, and five rebounds. Kyle Korver scored 21 points on seven threes in the losing effort as well, which was impressive for his first ever All-Star appearance.

Every single player on both teams scored on the night, and there were a couple of players in particular that were very underrated throughout the course of the game. Chris Paul recorded a double-double with 12 points and 15 assists, and John Wall scored 19 points to go along with seven assists.

As usual, there was no defense to be seen throughout the course of the game.

The two teams scored the highest total number of points in All-Star history to add to a record-breaking game.

All of that being said, Westbrook’s performance practically sums up his entire season. He has been playing at a new level this year, and this performance simply backs that fact up. There are plenty more All-Star games in Westbrook’s future, but this one will likely be the best that he ever plays.

All-Star weekend was very entertaining, but now the focus shifts back to the regular season and stretch playoff runs. Zach LaVine’s impressive and acrobatic win in the dunk contest isn’t going to be forgotten anytime soon, and neither is Westbrook’s MVP performance from tonight.
