Louisville Cardinals star Chris Jones is suspended from the team.

The Louisville Cardinals are one of the best teams inĀ the NCAA. With March Madness less than a month away and the ACC Tournament less than three weeks away, Louisville will be without one of their best players in Chris Jones.

All season long, the Cardinals have been led by one of the best trios inĀ college basketball. Terry Rozier, Montrezl Harrell, and JonesĀ are all excellent players and they are a big reason why the Cardinals are currently ranked 12th in the AP Top 25 poll.

Despite that, expect Louisville to take a step back in the coming weeks as their star point guard Chris Jones was suspended from all team activities. Jones will also not travel to Syracuse on Wednesday with the team. Kenny Klein of GoCards.com was the first to report the breaking news.

Without Smith, the Cardinals will be without their star point guard and their floor general. They will also be without a guy who averages 14 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals per game.

Not having Smith will not only hurt the Cardinals on the offensive side of the ball, but it will hurt on the defensive side of the ball as well. Year after year, Louisville always has a top defense and a main reason is because of their guards and how they give opposing teams nightmares.

The expectation in Louisville is to win a championship every year and if they want to do that this year, they will likely need a guy like Jones in their starting lineup.

This is still a developing story and the details of the suspension will be released in the coming days. However, for now, this is one odd story and it truly is a shame for a Louisville team that needed to play their best basketball in the coming weeks to get hot before the tournament officially starts.
