The Phoenix Suns were hoping to work out a deal with Goran Dragic to keep him on roster, but it appears that will not happen.
After thwarting trade rumors and likely turning away less than desirable offers, the Phoenix Suns will need to double down on their commitment to Goran Dragic. The hope was that the guard would be re-signed in the offseason but that is not a two way street of thought.
The Phoenix Suns may want to keep Goran Dragic but the feeling is hardly mutual.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo! Sports, Goran Dragic has informed the Suns he will no be signing a new deal in the offseason.
Goran Dragic's agent informed the Suns tonight that Dragic will not sign an extension in Phoenix this summer, league sources tell Yahoo.

This now means that a trade is almost guaranteed to be happening since the Suns have no leverage in contract talks. But what this also means is that the Suns have no leverage in trade talks either, as teams who want Dragic now know that they can just wait until summer to sign him and not have to give up picks or players.
That hurts the Suns but it doesn’t mean that talks aren’t going to happen. Dragic may come around and end up working something out with the Suns, but the plethora of guards the team has is going to hurt them in the end. Phoenix is tied up in a long term deal with Eric Bledsoe, has Tyler Ennis on the bench and will have Isahah Thomas on the books as well.
That’s three guards and there isn’t much room for Dragic. He may have done well for the Suns but it’s clear that his time is done and it’s matter of when — not if — he is moved.
