The Sacramento Kings are interested in trading for Arron Afflalo.

Sometimes the best thing a player can get in any professional sport is a reunion with a former coach. Just five days ago, the Sacramento Kings hired George Karl as their head coach. Although the Kings may not be in the best position in the tough Western Conference, the fact of the matter is that the Kings have some talent on their roster and Karl said himself that there is enough talent on this roster to win games.

Whether that’s next year or the year after, the Kings have championship aspirations, despite their dysfunctional ownership. Even though they may not make the playoffs this season, the Kings are reportedly a team to watch as the NBA Trade Deadline nears.

According to NBA Insider Ric Bucher, the Kings are reportedly trying to reunite Arron Afflalo and Karl. Bucher is one of the most respected reporters in all of basketball and his word means a ton of credibility.

With the Kings’ interest in Afflalo, a reunion between the player and the coach would be extremely feasible. When Afflalo played for Karl in Denver from 2009 to 2012, he played some of his most efficient basketball. However, Afflalo is 29 years old and he is playing the best basketball of his career in 2014. If the Kings do trade for Afflalo, which could very well happen as Bucher reported, he will join a team that has perhaps the best big man in all of basketball in DeMarcus Cousins.

Although the Kings have yet to gel, with one of the best coaches in the past decade in Karl, Sacramento could be a team to watch in the foreseeable future. A starting five of Darren Collison, Afflalo, Rudy Gay, Jason Thompson, and Cousins is intriguing and if the Kings bring in a guy like Afflalo, they will have a veteran who can help mesh this team. By trading for Afflalo, the Kings will have that veteran that they need.
