Orlando Magic will trade Maurice Harkless for ‘minimal return
By Evan Massey
The Orlando Magic are looking to trade young small forward Maurice Harkless before the deadline, and are willing to trade him for next to nothing.
Maurice Harkless was once considered a very talented young NBA wing player, and he was expected to turn into a very solid role player for the Orlando Magic. That hasn’t happened throughout his first three seasons, and the Magic are now looking to trade him for next to nothing.
Harkless still has plenty of time to reach his full potential. There is no denying his athleticism, but he has to work on his offensive game especially. That being said, there are plenty of teams that should look at acquiring him at a low price and trying to coach him to his full potential.

So far this season, Harkless has averaged just 3.4 points and 1.9 rebounds in 13.8 minutes per game over 27 appearances. Those numbers aren’t shabby for that kind of playing time. During his rookie season, he averaged 8.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game and showed major flashes of potential.
It will be interesting to see which teams show interest in Harkless with Thursday’s trading deadline coming up fast. He can be had for a cheap price and is more than capable of improving and becoming the player that many expected him to be during the 2012 NBA Draft process.
Thursday’s deadline is expected to be filled with rumors, and there are some deals that could very well happen. Quite a few teams are looking to buy, and quite a few other teams are looking to sell. Harkless may not be one of the more popular names on the trade market, but he is without question going to raise some interest.
