The San Diego State women’s golf team is probably the coolest golf team you’ll ever come across.

San Diego State University is known for a lot of things. Its’ party scene, its’ amazing basketball team led by head coach Steve Fisher and maybe for being the collegiate program which has produced a number of Major League Baseball players, most recently and notably 2009 No. 1 overall pick Stephen Strasburg.

Moving down the list, it would take quite a while to find the ladies’ golf program.

Until now, it seems.

In anticipation of the 2015 season, the Lady Aztecs shot, edited and released the coolest trick golf shot video I’ve ever seen. It can be witnessed here, courtesy of Bleacher Report.

The Lady Aztecs are coming off a successful, but ultimately disappointing NCAA West Regional appearance in 2014. The team tied for 21st overall, shooting +91 for the three-day event.

That followed the Mountain West Conference Championships where they tied for third at +45 in that three-day event. But coach Leslie Spaulding, in her fourth season as head coach on Montezuma Mesa, has her Lady Aztecs ready to do some damage in the Mountain West and nationally in 2015.

It should be noted the video accomplishes a few things. First, it is potentially a psyche-out video for their future competition (which of course will work). Second, more than anything the video shows off the amazing weather and golf courses that the Lady Aztecs enjoy almost year-round.

That could be an amazing sell to future recruits. Winning isn’t a bad way to sell a program either.

Now briefly to the video itself.

It falls in line with an Aztec tradition of self-promotion among athletic teams. With Tim Shelton on the team, the now legendary basketball program began dropping a yearly themed rap video it would then use for pre-game introductions and to pump up The Show—San Diego State’s overly enthusiastic student section at men’s basketball games.

As for this video it shows an amazing array of trick shot skills from these ladies. I cannot do one thing they did, and it would surely be difficult to find a group to accomplish any of the other things they do as a team.

Given the school’s reputation it’s not surprising that some of the shots are risqué in more than one sense. But it undoubtedly fits the program and the atmosphere on The Mesa.

We shall see soon if these ladies are as good as their soon-to-be viral trick shot video makes them seem.
