Shawn Michaels seems pretty adamant about the fact that he never buried CM Punk when he was beginning his WWE journey
Recently there have been some accusations made that Shawn Michaels and Triple H both kind of went out of their way back in 2005 to bury CM Punk right in front of the face of Vince McMahon during his tryout, and now Micheals is finally speaking out about the matter.
And he’s flat-out denying it.
In a recent interview on Sirius XM Radio, Michaels acknowledged that he had learned of the accusations and they’re completely false.
“I had someone tell me, ‘Triple H, he buried CM Punk.’ One, I never even met the guy [Bauer], supposedly he worked for us. Dave Lagana will tell you, as Punk will, that I was one of his biggest fans,” Michaels said.
The original accusations came from former WWE writer Court Bauer, who said that the two D-X members just absolutely buried Punk in front of the most important man in the company. He made the accusations on his own podcast.
“One time, Triple H along with HBK buried CM Punk. I think it was his 2005 tryout. Maybe he didn’t know the name, and wasn’t familiar with who it was but they buried him.”
“They annihilated his look and his work and I’m like ‘you just sunk the guy in front of the Chairman!’ They were shredding this poor guy.”
Now of course, with this being the professional wrestling business and all, there’s two sides to every story and you really don’t know which one to believe. This also seems a bit odd in the sense that Michaels and Triple H both talked at one point about even possibly putting Punk in D-X, so they had to like something about the guy.
