“Pitchers and catchers report”
Those four words simply mean that baseball is on the horizon, and with the backdrop of hope springing forth for each of MLB’s 30 franchises, it is usually a fun time to be a fan of the sport. Still, not every team can excel each season, and sometimes, you can see the fall coming.
With that in mind, we will take a look at five teams that are likely to take a step back in the standings from the 2014 to 2015 seasons.
Due to the nature of the exercise, these are teams who enjoyed at least mild success last season, but in some cases, the current roster simply does not live up to that level of performance, and that is the purest indication of a backslide.
Simply taking a step back from last season does not necessarily remove these teams from playoff or even World Series consideration, but in the same breath, expectations should realistically be lowered when evaluating the various factors. Let’s go.
