On Wednesday, The Suns guard confirmed rumors that he wants to be traded, citing his lack of trust with the organization and his unhappiness with his role as his reasons for wanting out.

From ArizonaSports.com:

"“I don’t feel comfortable here with my situation,” he said while surrounded by reporters in the hallway outside the practice court at US Airways Center. “I was happy here but the situation as it is now is I need to think about my future, about my family and I think so that’s the right thing to do for myself.”(…)“I don’t trust them anymore,” he said. “It happens too many times, two, three times. They give promises, OK, but — it’s hard, but at the same time, I wish them all the best. They were great to me, the past five years here. I’m always going to have a good memory about Phoenix, fans. I love this city, but it’s just hit that point of my career that it’s better for me and for my family to move on.”"

It’s certainly understandable why Dragic would be frustrated with his current situation in Phoenix. Dragic, who’s with been the Suns since the 2012-13 season, was brought in to be the team’s primary ball-handler.

However, the Suns have since added Eric Bledsoe in 2013 and Isaiah Thomas in 2014, forcing Dragic to often play off-the-ball and be a member of a very crowded backcourt.

"“(I want) to be a point guard, like I was in the past, all my life,” Dragic said. “To be a point guard, to run the team, to have the ball in my hands and try to make plays for others. That’s who I am.”"

Dragic being so open about his desire to leave does put Phoenix in a tricky situation, as it surely absolves them of any leverage in trade negotiations. Still, Dragic is one of the league’s better point guards, so there will absolutely be a market for his services.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, Dragic would prefer to be traded to the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers or Miami Heat.

Dragic is averaging 16.2 points (50.1 percent shooting from the field, 35.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc), 4.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game this season.
