The Los Angeles Lakers aren’t expected to make any noise during tomorrow’s NBA trade deadline.
The Lakers are on the verge of having the worst record in the franchise’s history, but that isn’t going to lead them into making a trade just to make a trade.

Los Angeles has a lot of moveable assets like their potential two first round picks (have Houston’s, but only keep their own if it’s in the top 5), Jordan Hill, Ed Davis, Jeremy Lin – and really anyone not named Kobe Bryant or Julius Randle – but it looks like everyone will remain with the purple and gold.
According to a league source who is close with Los Angeles’ front office, the Lakers are “unlikely” to make any trades before the trade deadline tomorrow, and their main priority right now is to simply keep their draft picks and maintain financial flexibility for this summer.
This has to be overwhelmingly great news to anyone that is a fan of the Lakers.
Maybe it’s because Kobe Bryant is out for the rest of the season, but I kind of expected the Lakers to go and try make something happen to instantly make them better rather than being patient.
The Lakers haven’t had to truly rebuild like this in a very long time, and patience is the single most important thing for them to remember during this process.
The biggest thing the Lakers need to focus on is keeping their pick for next season, and making a trade right now could put that in jeopardy.
What if they traded for Goran Dragic tomorrow? I don’t know how good you think Dragic is, but there’s a possibility he could elevate that team to a handful of extra wins this season – and that’s a risk that I don’t think is worth taking.
The dream scenario should look like this for the Lakers: tank the rest of this season to keep their pick, draft a young star like Jahlil Okafor, sign a couple of decent free agents and get Bryant and Randle back.
