10 workout warriors who will shine at the 2015 NFL Combine
By R. Phillips
Shaq Thompson, OLB, Washington
Thompson is another impressive athlete who could play multiple positions in the NFL. He has decided on outside linebacker though, after also playing running back and safety at Washington. While he may not turn in the fastest 40-yard dash time for a linebacker or top any of the other drills for his position group, the total picture of his workout should be very impressive.
As a junior, Washington’s new staff asked Thompson to carry the ball on offense 61 times and he racked up 456 yards and three touchdowns despite never playing there in college before. On defense, he had 81 tackles, an interception and four fumble recoveries.
Thompson will likely measure in the 6-foot-2, 225-pound range and should absolutely look the part of a fast linebacker, or a big safety.
Some have suggested he could be utilized as a Kam Chancellor-type guy in the NFL. Regardless of how he is utilized at the next level, there is no denying that Thompson is a special athlete who will shine at the combine.
