Hated rivals Duke and North Carolina join forces to provide a moment of silence for the late great Dean Smith.
Once upon a time the state of North Carolina sported a basketball rivalry so fierce that Tobacco Road was placed in a frenzied state at least a couple times a year.

Tonight at Cameron Indoor Stadium as #4 Duke hosted #15 North Carolina, a tear-jerking public display took place.
The hatred was halted for a moment.
The bitter rivals came together prior to the game for a moment of silence in remembrance of legendary former UNC head coach Dean Smith, who passed away last week.
MikeĀ Krzyzewski and Roy Williams led the way as they linked arms in a sea of college athletes at mid-court.

Perhaps the number one indicator of a true great rivalry is when mutual respect is given. Nowhere in the world could that be more personified than in Cameron Indoor earlier tonight.

As far as the big-time college hoops game was concerned, Coach Kās group edged the Tar Heels 92-90 in overtime.Ā It was a back and forth affair which saw each team hold big leads.
Duke lead by 13 early and allowed it to escalate into a 10 point deficit with only four minutes left in regulation. They battled back however and came up with the huge ACC victory.
Quinn Cook led the way for the Blue Devils with 22 points.
