In a heated division and in-state rivalry matchup, Purdue guard Jon Octeus threw down on an Indiana defender.

On Thursday night, the Indiana Hoosiers hosted the rival Purdue Boilermakers in their second matchup of the season. Back in January, Purdue topped Indiana 83-67 in Mackey Arena, and the Hoosiers were hoping to get revenge in front of their fans and fellow students.

About four minutes into the second half, with the game tied at 35, Purdue senior guard Jon Octeus found a lane and took advantage.

With Indiana’s guards shifting and switching along the perimeter, a lane opened up for Octeus and led to this ferocious dunk. Poor Indiana forward Collin Hartman was on the receiving end of this slam, and while the dunk was not his fault, he will still have to live with this embarrassment for the rest of his collegiate career, and maybe even life.

Denver Nuggets’ rookie and Indiana native Gary Harris had something to say about the dunk.

This dunk was a crowd silencer for sure, and perhaps a momentum shifter for the Boilermakers. Purdue won the game 67-63, and Octeus finished with 12 points and three rebounds before fouling out.
