However, soon enough the Sacramento Kings might be on their path to joining the Spurs.
It’s been rumored that the newly hired Kings head coach, George Karl, is considering bringing the great hall of fame basketball player, Nancy Lieberman, to help coach the Sacramento Kings.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports said this:
"Sacramento coach George Karl could try to add one assistant to the Kings staff for the balance of this season – perhaps Philadelphia’s Vance Walberg – but he’s already started to formulate possibilities for next season and beyond.Among them, Karl plans to consider the assistant-coaching candidacy of Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman, league sources told Yahoo Sports."
For Lieberman she’s already had the experience of working with men in the professional basketball setting. Back in November of 2009, Lieberman was named the head coach of the Texas Legends of the NBA Developmental League, which is an affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks. While coaching the Legends, Lieberman became the first woman to coach a professional men’s basketball team.
For Karl who was the NBA Coach of the Year in 2010, and only one of seven coaches with over 1,000 wins in his career the move couldn’t be more wise. Bringing in an assortment of intelligence to the coaching bench will make the Kings a more smarter, disciplined team, which are two traits which their team is lacking.

For the entire NBA as a whole it’s great to see the type of diversity that’s starting to rise from the league.
Lieberman’s impending hiring isn’t set in stone quite yet, but the fact that she’s getting consideration for the position is a huge step for women in the game of basketball.
The NBA has been very forthcoming with bringing in women into the game of basketball through different avenues other than playing. Because of the vision of the league a lot of women are starting to see the potential in working with the league.
If coach Karl hires Lieberman to work on the coaching bench with him it’s the right move.
Intelligent pick coach Karl, intelligent pick.
