Roy Hibbert to the Thunder

Roy Hibbert was rumored earlier in the season to potentially find a place on the Cleveland Cavaliers roster next to Lebron James and company. But because of the additions of J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert in Cleveland’s most recent deals, the Cav’s may be all traded out. While this is more or less good news for the Cavs, it just creates different trade rumors for Hibbert and where he might end up after the deadline.

The Pacers are 11-20, not really in contention for a playoff spot. Once their superstar in Paul George gets healthy next season, the Pacers better have some pieces that can produce if they want to compete.

Roy Hibbert is the most probable candidate for packing his bags and leaving the Pacers organization. His size and post defense make him attractive to any team that is looking to make a run in the postseason that doesn’t have a rim protector.

One of the teams that fits this credential is the Oklahoma City Thunder.

It makes sense for the Thunder. They do have Kendrick Perkins and Serge Ibaka. But Perkins is getting up there in age, and Ibaka isn’t necessarily the best post-defender against a sizeable big man. Plus, it never hurts to add a little size.

Unfortunately the Thunder haven’t even winked at the idea of adding Hibbert. Which is unfortunate. With both Durant and Westbrook healthy going into the second half of the season, the Thunder could very well make it back to the finals. Adding Hibbert could be just what the Thunder need.
