The Phoenix Suns owner might want to block Goran Dragic deals

More from NBA

The Phoenix Suns have been talking Goran Dragic trades for days, but now owner Robert Sarver may have thrown a wrench into things.

With just minutes to go before the 3 p.m. ET NBA trade deadline, a report from ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne came out that Sarver wants to block the point guard from being traded.

The rumor was also put out on Twitter by the Sporting News’ Sean Deveney, who added that the Suns are trying to move guard Isaiah Thomas rather than Dragic:

Despite what their owner wants, Dragic has told the Suns in no uncertain terms that he wants to be traded today, and it may take more than a Thomas trade to mend that bridge, meaning that Dragic could still leave after the season and the Suns would receive no compensation.

It’s also possible that the Sarver news is a ploy; the Suns may be trying to get back the leverage with other teams that they lost when Dragic demanded a trade. On the other hand, this isn’t the first time Sarver has meddled in basketball affairs with the team.

Ownership demands or no, the Suns would be crazy to turn down this reported offer from the Heat.

We’ll have more on the story as the deadline approaches.
