After hearing all day that the Brooklyn Nets were going to supply the Oklahoma City Thunder with the big man they needed, the deal ended up going in a completely different direction in a way no one expected.

The Utah Jazz got in on the massive trade sweep at the deadline by acquiring Kendrick Perkins, but had to do so by giving up Enes Kanter. Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo! Sports reported the deal, which gives the Thunder the big man they needed.

According to Tony Jones, the expectation though is that the Jazz will be buying out the contract of Kendrick Perkins and allow him to sign wherever he please next week on the buyout market.

Immediate speculation seems to suggest that since the Clippers didn’t have the assets to make a move at the deadline on the trade market, they’ll be the first in line to clean up on the buyout market — with Kendrick Perkins being at the top of their list.

All of this is happening so fast, it’s almost hard for fans to process at the moment. The real steal here is Kanter going to the Thunder, as he’s the big man they needed and that hole was the reason they needed to find someone like Brook Lopez to acquire.

Kanter was the player though, and the trade deadline this year has failed to disappoint anyone watching it.
