But then there’s the South Side

The north side of Chi-Town wasn’t the only Chicago team to make a lot of noise during the winter.  The White Sox were just as loud in the south side and will also look to compete in 2015, the first season without first baseman Paul Konerko.

First off, general manager Rick Hahn addressed just about every hole in the roster.  The ChiSox hot stove is highlighted with the acquisitions of starter Jeff Samardzija and closer David Robertson to bookend the pitching staff.

Lefty Chris Sale is still the ace of the pitching staff and is the only starting pitcher on the rotation to finish 2014 with a winning record (12-4).  With Carlos Rodon quickly making his way to the bigs (2.96 ERA, 1.356 WHIP, 14.1 strikeouts-per-nine ratio), the White Sox could have one of the more dominant rotations in the AL Central, let alone the city of Chicago.

Hahn also added first baseman Adam LaRoche, left-fielder Melky Cabrera and Emilio Bonfiacio.

Cabrera is projected to bat second, just ahead of Jose Abreu and Adam LaRoche who look to bat third and fourth, respectively.

While the big free agent signings are set to add a new sense of attitude to the south side, once can only wonder if Hahn made all of the right moves, or just spent a lot of money to build hype to fill all of the empty seats.
