Shortly after the fight was announced, Pacquiao released a statement about the highly-anticipated bout, according to USA Today.

"“This is the right fight for boxing,” Pacquiao said in a statement. “Floyd Mayweather and I is the fight boxing fans have wanted for years and I am looking forward to it. I will be representing my fans and my country and trying to bring glory to the Philippines.”"

Pacquiao added:

While most would agree that this fight would have been better if it occurred years ago and we all didn’t have to endured the “five-year saga” as Pacquiao referred to it as, this surely will still be one of the most watched fights ever.

Mayweather will enter the bout undefeated at 47-0 with 26 knockouts. Pacquiao is 57-5-2 with 38 knockouts.

Early betting lines are Mayweather at -285 and Pacquiao at +225, according to Bovada.
