WWE ringside doctor Chris Amann is suing former WWE wrestler CM Punk and pro wrestler Colt Cabana for defaming him over an alleged mistreatment.
Former WWE superstar and current UFC fighter CM Punk is facing a $1 million lawsuit for an explosive podcast he recorded with Colt Cabana a few months ago. In that podcast, Punk claimed Dr. Chris Amann mistreated a growth on his back that eventually yielded a staph infection.

After CM Punk left the WWE in November, he waited a few weeks before going hog in a two-hour podcast that ranks among the most interesting takes on the wrestling organization out there. Not only was Punk full of vitriol and hot takes, but he discussed a lot of the inner workings of the WWE that fans have rarely been privy to before.
Much of Punk’s talk centered around the health ailments he suffered while on the job. Of course, Dr. Amann can’t be blamed for the injuries Punk initially suffered, but he alleged that the doctors were more on the side of head honcho Vince McMahon than they were for Punk. In other words, injuries and illnesses were nothing when the company needed Punk to get out there and put on a show.
From that vein came one of the hottest stories in the two-hour podcast. Punk told a story about a growth on his back that Dr. Amann claimed was benign, hardly a concern. As time went on, Punk said he grew sick and weak, but the company, verified by the word of Dr. Amann, insisted he was fine and urged him to return to the ring.
Later, CM Punk would learn that the growth was a staph infection that could have threatened his life if left untreated for much longer. He expressed dismay and frustration in recollecting the story, but Punk never took action against WWE for that or any other instance in which he was recklessly pushed into a match after having undergone surgery or suffered a concussion.
But now Dr. Chris Amann has come forward to refute CM Punk’s claims and defend his own veracity as a medical professional. He’s doing so with guidance from the American Way. If someone says something about you, sue the crap out of them. Now both sides will be able to present their respective facts and likely settle out of court. Here’s hoping this one case makes it to court so we can see the facts behind the suit.
