Jameis Winston 40-yard comparison against Watt, Suh, Clowney (Video)
By Robby Sabo
The front-runner as the top quarterback prospect in the NFL greatly disappointed scouts in the 40-yard dash.
If NFL scouts and front office suits alike didn’t realize it prior to the Combine, they now do.

Former Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston is not fast quarterback and will never run a heavy zone read offense in the league.
Sure he’s mobile and has a pretty fantastic sense of his surroundings in the pocket, but if you wanted to put him in a Colin Kaepernick-like class you’d be sorely disappointed.
After his pretty poor 40-yard dash time of 4.97, the once large gap between him and Oregon’s Marcus Mariota could have shrunk significantly.
Mariota ran a splendid 4.52 time to lead all quarterbacks and allow Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly to drool even more.
The questions surrounding his physical shape have also made many think of former Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell.
Due to the shocking run NFL Network has put together a comparison between Winston’s time and other defensive lineman who’ve seen come through the Combine in recent years.

In a league that is so driven by quarterbacks, the thought has to come to mind whether both Winston and Mariota are even worth Top 10 picks.
Winston already has a number of question marks off the field due to his checkered past. Using the eyeball test late in the College Football season, some came to the conclusion that Mariota’s throwing ability if far from pro ready which catapulted him from potentially the top pick down to out of the top five.
Be very careful of both of these guys this year. Are they legit Top 10 quarterback worthy? Or is the league so enamored with the position that their being thrust into an overvalued position?
